Vote & Protest

Last evening I had a chat with some guys, they were determined not to cast their vote on 8 January. I wondered if they don't perform their duty then how can they protest later when government 'not selected' by them acts against their will. They further called themselves 'speechless majority'. What is the use of this non-speaking majority if they are not ready to do their part of the job?

A Nations Tragedy

Pakistani nation is not a stupid nation. It was the nation that got an independent country without any large scale battle and bloodshed during the independence struggle. The political awareness among people of Pakistan is very high.

A friend of mine was saying all this and I was remembering words of the Lord Musheref of last night saying,’ whole country was going to commit suicide and I had to act. All the development of past 7 years was getting vanished in front of my eyes’

Now I was confused, is Pakistani nation really not stupid? Lord stated that whole nation of 150 million was going to commit suicide. It might have been a Gunnies World Record of mass suicide. No one in this whole country was able to understand that they were going to die after suicide.

Second major point the Lord mentioned was that all the progress of last 7 years was getting vanished in front of his eyes. What progress was he mentioning; the immense rise in cost of basic commodities, extreme poverty, deteriorating and non-existent basic needs infrastructure and divided nation? No not for sure, he was mentioning about the army of ministers, groups of posh riches driving expensive cars and of course the physical and assets development of the little Lord Shaukat.

The Lord said that independent judiciary was responsible for spread of terrorism. Terrorism was spread not due to judiciary. Judiciary only restricted the actions of the government to pick and disappear any one she wants. So called terrorism or whatever was spread due to extreme frustration among people when they see whole resources of the country working for one man and his group. It should not be forgotten that when you kill the little children of a family the remaining will not feel happy to see your children laughing.

Last but never the least; please don’t forget my dear Lord and Little Lord (who in my opinion is much bigger Lord than the big Lord) you have given the most powerful weapon to people of Pakistan. Astonished? I am serious the most lethal weapon in the universe is hate and you have given this weapon to each and every person of the country. Just imagine that how strong a person will be feeling when you take his wealth, health and even family but he says that you may take everything from me but you can never get my love and respect.

Yes dear Lord and Little Lord, you have got the hate of a whole nation who is facing another tragedy in her life. You both are collecting the hate of millions and that has given a new strength to scattered nation who will now join each other and this is what reminds me that Pakistan was created by God will and it will remain on map of world. This action of Lord and Little Lord will for sure further strengthen the nation.

An Ottoman Emperor was roaming in Istanbul with great exaggeration of his power, a poor stall holder on the street said loudly, ‘Dear powerful king don’t forget, you are a big king but under a bigger king up on the sky’ so dear Lord and Little Lord please don’t forget that there is an ultimate powerful Lord up there waiting for your arrival. Keep on collecting the hate of whole nation till then!

While you eat the food you want and try to sleep in your luxurious beds a nation will be on her prayers rag to share hate for you with the Lord above the skies if it will be of any use!

Undertakings!

I was planning to write something for number of days but could not start anything. There are many topics now all in one small basket. The President said that he has been getting hard time but knockout punch will be from his side. I wanted to say that instead of thinking anything about the country he still aims at winning his personal fight. Then he said that he will act in accordance with the law and I wanted to ask him which law he was referring to. After the Supreme Court’s decision and Mr. Nawaz Sharif’s announcement to come back his beloved Minister for Information Mr. Durrani was quoted saying that Mr. Sharif should abide by his undertaking.

I was not there to ask Mr. Durrani which under taking he was talking about. Can he say same to the President? He was the one who joined Pakistan Army by giving an undertaking that he will serve and protect the country and never get involved in politics. If it is outdated now, then can anyone remind him of his undertaking to quit uniform some time ago? Can anyone tell him that the President gives an undertaking that he will not belong to any party and in yesterday’s news paper he was shown supporting Qaid’s Muslim League.

What made me to write all this? I along with my brother and a cousin today morning went to Islamabad Airport. I was to leave; we decided not to park and only get dropped in the drop lane. After security check we were stopped and asked if how many of us would be travelling, we said one person, we were asked to pay Rs. 20 for the additional person we had in our car other than the driver. Although we were not going to park but we had to pay. Even if we were going to park and pay the parking fee then what was this Jagga Tax of Rs. 20 per person except driver and airplane passenger? I never saw such a thing at any other place. I asked the guy and he said that his company got the contract and gave an undertaking to charge this money from every one! Either this type of actions are helping our president to be proud of national wealth or it is helping to limit number of visitors especially people from villages coming to see off or receive their friends and families after Umra or Hajj or even from a foreign trip, this was not in accordance with any rule of business because you were not offering anything in return to the person you were charging!

They Roll to Rule

They are born to rule. No matter how incompetent they might be, they have the right to rule the masses. It is of no concern even if they grab the right of someone who is capable and should have a certain position. They are not only owners of the land but also of the people and sole of many.

Who are they? Are they Pakistani elites? No not for sure, because now a common person is also a ruler. Pakistani culture has become a garb culture where everyone grabs whatever he/she can. Our Army Chiefs grab the position to be held by civilian person and dismisses the elected governments giving clear signal that they can dismiss the choice of people. Later the trend goes down. Incompetent people grab the highest positions in different institutes, and lower positions are also grabbed by people favoured by them. The supposed leaders take no responsibility of failures.

This culture pours down to the minimum level in the community. Why people complain that Police Department is corrupt and use power to grab money from innocent people’s pockets. The reason is crystal clear; they know that their bosses are from this culture. By doing so they will belong to ruling culture. Further down the road everyone who is sitting is exploiting anyone who is standing. At domestic levels stories of rich boys exploiting the poor maids is very common in the big cities.

What would be the reaction and against whom? No one will be able to harm the Army Chief or Prime minister or even those holding political seats. Although they are elected by people, they are not accountable to people. Then how will people show their hate? They will be doing so against the weakest link of the ruling chain, common people just above their own level. They will hate the policeman, they will hate the soldier and walking person will ultimately hate the one travelling in car. Who will benefit from this, again the strong ruling elite that cannot be harmed.

Is this elite fixed? Yes but is their position fixed? No, because they roll to rule. A same person can be saying that democracy is best solution and later he might be sitting in a cabinet of a general. Who can stop him? No one can stop him because he rolls to rule. He can change his place according to his RPS i.e. Ruling Positioning System. This system can warn him before time, well in advance where he/she should be standing to be able to sit in next ruling class.

And unfortunately if this trend goes on then people’s hate for any suppresser will turn violent and again the sufferer will be upper middle class and upper class will again roll to a new position. While thinking all this, suddenly my car was over taken by a jeep with soldiers, I was thinking of making any zer-e-lab comments when I saw 5 Chevrolet vans following them and escorted by another soldier’s jeep at the end of convoy. No wonder they were all Americans who were rolling in their vehicles to rule!

Merci Mr. President

Mercy Mr. President, please forgive us for not being moderate and liberal Muslims. Even if we want to be we are unable to do so. Simply we are not of that type. We can’t have dogs in our bedrooms and won’t tolerate our girls to have mixed parties start at a bar and end up in a bedroom.

Under your courageous leadership some of us have enjoyed all the luxuries of life either it was to have prestigious credit cards in our pockets or drive the new cars or to have parties full of drinks and chicks.

But mercy Mr. President that part does not represent the country you are leading. We still have a strong family system and a community knitted together where elders and women have special place. Yes, we do accept we are fundamentalists, fundamentalists who love their fundamental identity. There might be misunderstanding and misinpakistanterpretation about Islam from inward and outwards but still we are Muslims.

Merci Mr. President to those who know nothing about vast benefits of moderate Islam. They know only madrasaas where they go and generally learn to respect elders, women and trust other Muslims. These fundamentalists do not ask for bribe to offer their help.

Merci Mr. President we can’t be liberal to have mixed madrasaas. We can’t start our Friday prayers with music and have smart nuns assisting our imams (even if they support the idea). If all this irritates you and make you feel pity on us and our fundamental approach and dark future then please mercy Mr. President and leave us. Please don’t misunderstand, you are simply not chosen!

Return of the President!

President Musharraf once again proved that he is able to survive many more attacks. Just at the brink of loosing all the international support after dismissing the Chief Justice he returned to arena. This has not been a simple return but it is a tremendous return.

He would have never been able to achieve it had it not been supported by Lal Masjid Maulanas. Both brothers proved to be sincere supporter of Musharraf. Although they were always keeping him in spot light by their actions but no one could have imagined that they can go this much far in his support. They willingly had innocent people killed.

Message to out side is clear, 'there is a realistic threat from Islamic extremists and only president has ability to tackle it'.

Thank you Lal Masjid! you gave a new life to president on the brink of falling.

The people of Pakistan can never understand (or they are not allowed to do so) the difference between State and Government. Demolition of ministry buildings or burning of transport vehicles is a loss to State which prepares infrastructure to serve people but on the other hand Government gets no harm if those structures are damaged.

If one goes through speeches of Mohammad Ali Jinnah it can be noticed that he clearly stated differences between State's and Government's role.. but who bothers?

Black Coats!

Sheikh Rasheed, Pakistan Railway Minister yesterday said that the government has been struck by Black Cameras, Black Coats and Black Veils. All that I can add to his statement is that end of every one is Black Grave. He and all others in power should not forget that also!

A friend said few days ago that nothing can be changed without educating the people of Pakistan. So here is the news, in new budget part for education has further been reduced. None of our ruling class members would like to see their Awaam educated and challenge their monarchy.

From challenge I remember that when roads are closed for VIP passengers can't we challenge or protest? I suggest that while waiting for such VIPs passage lets beep our horns to register our protest.

Musharraf takes pride in Uniform!

The headline was just like that in The News of May 23, 2007. He was in an exclusive interview with BBC.

He was right to take pride in uniform because uniform has made him to come to such a position which he could have never achieved through his own abilities. If I was the one taking interview I could have for sure asked him ‘if uniform also takes pride in being on him?’. Taking pride in everything has been our motto since creation of Pakistan. We always say we are proud to be Pakistani but if Pakistan could speak it would never said the vice versa. Yes we can be proud of Pakistan as it gave us virtually unlimited resources and helped us to achieve level of life we could have never imagined under joint Indian rule. BUT what have we done for Pakistan? Guess nothing of what Pakistan can be proud of us!

Similarly our president can be proud of uniform but unfortunately uniform must be ashamed of him because if every other matter is excluded the most important duty that a uniform brings was to protect mother land and not interfere in politics and engineer the election results!

I have a vision that one day we will also live a respectable life in Pakistan and I know only one thing that it will only be possible when our governments learn to respect people and people start to trust their governments!

last nail or last drop!

Our all mighty president has dismissed may be country's most reliable person. Yes he was our chief justice Mr. Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry. According to BBC, 'Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry had a reputation for taking a firm line on government misdemeanours and human rights abuses'

So all mighty was facing some one who dared to say the word, 'why?'.Only saying of this word was enough to have our all mighty's night sleep turned in to horror. He could not imagine that in in his territory some one was able to look up and say why?The allegations on chief justice included that he misused his powers and his family members also benefited from his post.

We still don'tknow if they are true or not? but one thing is very clear from this case, if one is honest he can be screwed up at any mistake but if some one is not he can go away with with whatever he does! Well our all mighty's decision is last nail in coffin of justice or last drop in the full water glass, only time can tell, but considering our condition as a nation for last 7 years there is no hope that there will be any orange revolution in our country!

Long live all mighty!

People Security - Who is responsible?

We live in really a strange country. Every one is responsible for every thing except our government which is responsible for nothing! If prices increase and people can not afford to survive, our rulers tell us that it is due to high-rate economical development of country. This further puzzles the common person but how can he understand complexity of economics? When a common person visits market and finds things expensive and our rulers say that lentil is Rs.15 per kg (it was Rs.80 per kg at time when asked) one really thinks in which world they live? It is easy to know where they live- they live in a careless horizon where 150 million people are working for them and their children.

Coming back to safety issue, in history it was governments or Police’s job to protect people but later it was privatised and now every one had to hire a guard for him. Then came the era where ministers were no more responsible for their departments. If there were train accidents or electricity failures and accidents, our concerned minister was not responsible. Now finally we live in a time where our government as a whole is also not responsible for anything. Supreme Court of Pakistan banned kiting but Government relaxed this ban (in civilised countries it could have not been possible and if it was done then the relaxing authority was to be considered responsible for each and everything) and as a result we had more than a dozen deaths, again who is responsible, no one!

We always look for examples from west but even in our East we have many such examples where ministers or even prime ministers resigned over such accidents. I don’t want to give any example from India, China, or Japan but this time it is from a Muslim Country-Turkey.

A small girl fell in to an open manhole in Istanbul and died. The incharge of water department was sacked. He can be considered equivalent to our minister’s level. Whole story is at:

PIA where next?

When this national flag carrier started its journey, we as a country were not very rich but we had determination. PIA soon became a regional and later an international player in aviation. It not only helped in launch of Emirates and Air Singapore (Singapore Airline) but also produced world class pilots.

With the time PIA started loosing its fame. The problem seemed to be more political than financial. PIA fares are still not below others but its service and dedication has certainly gone down. It can not be revived through appointment of army officials or bureaucrats but it can only be restored through dedicated team. Privatization can be seen as a way out but just remember that we have only one ‘national carrier’ and national flag carriers are in fact matter of pride for countries. Concerning flag carrier, the design of PIA airplanes was changed (outer paint etc) but who did it, was nation or national assembly been consulted on this matter- no idea? There are some people making decision on our behalf but only for their own interests!

Well following news is evident where our PIA is heading to:

Brussels: The European Union is set to ban most of Pakistan International Airlines' fleet from flying to the 27-country bloc because of safety concerns, an EU source said yesterday.
The source said a committee of experts had decided to block all but seven planes of the airline's 40-plane fleet from flying to Europe for failing to meet international safety standards. "Only those seven will be allowed to make flights to European Union countries," the source said. "The rest of the fleet will be blacklisted."
The decision is likely to come into force in about 10 days, the source said, once made official by the European Commission

where do we stand now? BRIC

BBC Wednesday, 14 February 2007

'Big three' hold key Delhi talks

The foreign ministers of India, China and Russia are meeting in the Indian capital, Delhi, to discuss terrorism, drug trafficking and Afghanistan. They are also assessing developments in Iran, Iraq and North Korea. The relationship between the three countries was first proposed by former Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov during a visit to Delhi in 1998.
This is the second such talks between the ministers to focus on a number of international issues. The foreign ministers of the three countries last met in Vladivostok in Russia in 2005. "As Russia's relations .. with China grew deeper, India-China relations .. normalised [and] Beijing and New Delhi manifested mounting interest in contacts with Russia in tripartite format on a wide range of matters of mutual interest..," Russian foreign ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin was quoted saying by the Itar-Tass news agency ahead of the meeting.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

It is now time to think where do we as Pakistan stand on world stage. New world order is BRIC i.e. Brasil, Russia, India and China with of course military might of the USA. Russians proved to be more loyal to India than our friends US and they are still shoulder to shoulder with India after 60 years. Have we realised at what stage India is playing in global affairs? never unfortunately we have become a consumer society while India is able to maintain its productivity. Mittal Steel, Tata and now Hindalco all are now able to manipulate the world economy and what do you say how long China will treat us a privileged after all she needs raw material.

The issue is not to blame or follow India but it is now time to analyse where do we stand as a country and its citizen. It is time to have some vision about our future place as nation and as millat not the vision we are getting now but the vision in lines with 1947.

that's all for today.. just don't forget, we all need improvements in our lives to improve our country!
